Top 5 Home Plumbing & HVAC Emergencies that Can’t Wait

There are household problems, and then there are emergencies that simply cannot wait. When it comes to your plumbing and HVAC systems, you want to be aware of five things in particular that should be treated as emergencies.

You can keep reading to learn more about five situations which you should call us and schedule an emergency appointment for your HVAC system or residential plumbing. Prioritizing an appointment for HVAC and plumbing emergencies in Calgary can help you protect your systems from even more serious problems.

1. No Hot Water

A lack of hot water can point to water heater problems. Addressing anything with your water heater is important – but a total lack of hot water can mean a major problem. For example, maybe the heating element stopped working completely and needs to be replaced.

We know that it can be tempting to attempt a DIY repair to save money, but you face some risks with any DIY HVAC or plumbing project. Leave it to us instead! Speaking of saving money, we are currently offering a 10% discount to any seniors who call us for service, and you can learn more about this discount here

2. Flooding

Flooding can happen because water enters your home from outside or because of plumbing issues that cause major water flow inside your home. Unfortunately, flooding does happen for a variety of reasons. If a flood is caused by the water source leading into your home, you can locate the emergency shut-off valve and turn the water off so that it cannot continue entering your home and causing more damage.

3. Sewage Back-Up

Another example of a plumbing emergency might be a septic tank or sewer backup – a problem you probably don’t want to even imagine happening. We encourage you to know the early signs of an impending backup so that you can call us ahead of sewage actually backing up into your drains.

Pay attention to gurgling sounds in your drains, especially if water is not in use. You should never smell sewer odors coming from drains because those can point to sewage backing up in your pipes even if it hasn’t reached your drains yet.

4. No Heat or Cooling

When it comes to HVAC problems, you want to call us if you have a lack of heating or cooling. No matter what type of HVAC system you have – central AC, heat pump, furnace, etc. – each unit should put out specifically cold air in the summer and specifically hot air in the winter. A lack of heating or cooling is a major red flag that your HVAC system needs repair.

5. Clogged Drain

Clogged drains are another emergency. We know what you’re thinking – it’s so easy to just pick up a chemical drain cleaning to bust up a tough clog. But chemical drain cleaners are so harsh that they can damage your plumbing fixtures and pipes. Our team will use safer methods such as snaking tools and hydrojetting to clean drains without causing any damage.
